"Authenticity is not something we have or don’t have. It’s a practice - a conscious choice of how we want to live.”

A Bit About Mary

Mary believes the best counseling is done through strong, trusting relationships. Authenticity, grace, humility, acceptance, humor, and curiosity are core features of her practice as she strives to create spaces where all people can experience being seen, heard, known, and valued. Her clients describe her as approachable, relatable, and someone they can be themselves with. With extensive work in cross-cultural settings both domestically and abroad, Mary excels at empathy and adaptability, understanding and exploring wide-ranging perspectives, and creating an environment for deeper communication. Her work in inpatient hospitals equips her to help clients manage emotions that feel overwhelming and set goals for themselves that feel doable and “right.” By exploring life together, Mary helps her clients feel understood, supported, and encouraged as they journey through the counseling process, thus enabling clients to discover the underlying causes of inner struggles, identify solutions, and increase peace and joy in their lives. Mary will hold hope with you and for you as you come home to yourself.

Mary earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Richmont Graduate University as well as a Graduate Certificate in Child and Adolescent Counseling. Previously, she received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Human Services from the University of Georgia. Mary is a pre-licensed professional counselor working under the direct supervision and guidance of Sue Foster, LPC, CPCS. She is certified to provide telehealth services.

Mary’s approach to counseling is grounded in interpersonal psychodynamics, attachment, and parts work. She believes that you already have so much capacity within you; her job is to help you tap into it and move toward a more fulfilling life. Her experience and personality bring the right balance of insight and energy to the counseling relationship. Though she works with all ages, she particularly enjoys working with adolescents and young professionals. Additionally, after working in various cross-cultural settings as well as overseas, Mary enjoys working with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and celebrates multiculturalism in the counseling room. You are invited to schedule a free 15min phone consultation with Mary to see if you are a good fit.
